Crazy day

The final throes of Hurricane Gonzalo (sounds like a Jacobean villain!)

A day of extremes.
Horrendous heavy rain and hail
Winds to swirl anything not nailed down.
More rain and swirling winds.
Rainbows (but no pots of gold)
Darkness and gloom
And then glorious blue skies and sparkling sunshine.

I was due to meet a good friend at Biddulph Grange Garden (in North Staffordshire) but as we know there is virtually nowhere under cover, we decided it would be more sensible to meet at Trentham Gardens (access via motorway) where there were cafes, shops and a very nice restaurant.

Good decision.
We sneaked out when it was blue and lovely - for about five minutes a time.
And then retreated for a coffee.
And then retreated for a wonderful lunch (wicked cakes too)

It turned out to be a fabulous day.

And we may head for Biddulph Grange next week.
