100!

Marten's 'beppe' (=grandmother) turned 100 today! Congratulations Beppe! We are very very sorry to not be able to celebrate with her and the rest of the family today (ahh..that never-shrinking distance).

Here you see the portrait her daughter, Marten's aunt, painted for the occasion. It's beautifully done. A portrait of a woman who was born a century ago today. We cannot begin to imagine the changes she must have seen, all the memories she has of all those 100 years. Might possibly have been the 100 years that life on Earth changed most in such a time span, and maybe will ever change in such a time span. And she lives them!
