Pigeon and Pyracantha

As I came home this evening I noticed this Pigeon hunkering down in the Pyracantha. I wonder whether he is getting ready for the remains of Hurricane Gonzalo which is on it's way here tomorrow.

Now back to sorting pictures out for competitions at the new club.

I have actually dipped my toe into the world of competitions by entering two images into an online competition run by N-Photo magazine and the Photocrowd website. There is a top prize for the best image decided by a judge and then a secondary prize for the best picture voted by fellow users. There are over 300 images entered so far and over 30000 votes in the crowd voting section of the competition and I am currently sitting in 4th place with a variation on this blip and I'm also at 28th place with a photo of the Poppies at the Tower of London, with 6 days of voting left. I am encouraged by how well this is going for a first attempt.
