Railways
Today's the day ........................ to catch a train
............. several in fact!
Yes - we've spent quite a bit of the day on one sort of train or another - because today was the day that we had to come home. So we started off from Voiron in a sort of local, stopping train that took us to Lyon. Mind you, it was still pretty fast and only stopped twice - and it was a double-decker, so you had a great view over the countryside.
The we swapped on to the TGV and nipped up to Paris in the blinking of an eye. We had to change stations there from the Gare de Lyon to the Gare du Nord, so that meant a quick hop on the Paris Metro. Then it was the sleek and very comfortable Eurostar to London St Pancras - tube to Euston - and Virgin Voyager up to Oxenholme Lake District.
I'm pleased to tell you that it all went like clockwork - except a lot smoother and faster. Every train left and arrived on time. I do love it when a plan comes together ............................
