One of two sad dogs.

This is Ziggy, and both he and his big bro Hector have been really miserable today. They have just come back from a walk and were a bit wet so needed to be towelled down (their own towels I might add!).

I think that they’re missing their holiday. They’ve had long long walks over fells and through bogs and up hill and down dale.

They’ve had coffee stops (ok, water for them) in farmhouses and on the sides of craggy outcrops, and in towns.

They’ve been on boats and buses (a first for them). Hector I think takes after his dad (human Dad) in that he’s a bit of an old sea dog. When I got onto the ferry when we were part way round Derwentwater and left them to continue their walk all the way round, he howled like a banshee and I could hear him from the boat when we were a long way from the shore. He liked nothing more than to stand with his paws on the rail, looking into the distance, with his ears blowing in the water-dropped wind.

Today they are very sad. C took them for a walk, but their hearts weren’t really into it. They have refused to eat since we’ve been home.

They are northern dogs, (they were bred in Lancashire and the breed of Bedlingtons comes from Northumberland) so maybe they feel homesick?
