Iris out!
I finally managed to extract a huge iris from our pond today. I've been chopping the foliage down all year as it grew to try to weaken it. I don't think it helped! Eventually, by putting very stout planks across the pond, I managed to saw it into bits using my best wood saw! I was trepidatious: puncturing the liner would not have been good news. Also, a pump was buried in the middle of it, which complicated things further. The photo on the left is of the pile of iris I extracted - incredibly heavy! On the right is the pond with the irs gone. There is another iris still there, but it is less virulent and much smaller. But I suspect I'll get rid of it too!
