Old Golden Gates

From the outside of the Old Golden Gates, looking towards the Ascot Racecourse Grandstand. This used to be near the start of the old mile.

Yesterday I stood right along the railing, 5 furlongs from the finish line along the Straight Mile and watched 23 horses come thundering towards me. It was amazing. I was so close I wondered how I had been allowed to be there.
