Farewell Beechwood Cottage
All in all, a good week at this holiday cottage under the northern flanks of the North Yorks Moors. It's not an area of the country that would immediately come to mind as a destination for a holiday, situated as it is to the south of the industrialised Tees Valley but it proved to be a spot well worth exploring and well placed to visit several destinations all within about an hour's drive.
We covered serveral miles in our early morning preambulations enjoying the high ground and the villages and byways whilst the others enjoyed a leisurely start to their day.
This cottage, one of a pair, was a new conversion, with the first lettings this year. So it was in excellent condition with great facilities. Each of the three bedrooms had access to its own bathroom which is always a bonus. Downstairs was a little more cramped, especially for 6 people and some of the utensils were a little flimsy - like the corkscrew which would not do its job or even open a bottle of beer!
The journey home was quick and uneventful, just as we like it and we were able to unpack, get the washing on and fit in a walk before dinner. Extremely warm today, with temperatures hitting 21C this afternoon.
