He who laughs last...

We often see and hear kookaburras in the trees around our house and neighbourhood but this is the first time, that we're aware of, that one has perched on our deck railing.

S/he didn't mind me snapping photos, in fact, I was within arm's reach a couple of times. Although upon being up so close to it, I got an extra good look at the size of that powerful and sharp looking beak, so kept a respectable distance.

I think it looks more like a penguin from this angle perhaps than a kookaburra but I just really liked how puffy chested it looks like this.
