Couple

This remarkable statue is in "More London" - an office development just off Tooley Street.

I couldn't work out what to make of it so I checked it out on the internet.

Created by Stephen Balkenhol it is one half of a pair of figures called "Couple". The sculptor works in wood, working with speed and retaining the chisel marks. The male sculpture is dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, reflecting the clothing so many office workers wear. I didn't see the female figure but apparently it is a short distance away on the same eye level, positioned on a low roof (see this flickr entry - NB not mine).

I shall have to go back and have another look.
