The whole ceremony day was brilliant, from start to finish. The Queen presented the honours and Dame Maggie Smith was the headline act. The palace staff, who have seen it all before many times, went out of their way to make it a very special occasion for everyone, and were kindness itself in helping my sister (who is disabled), even providing a page for her to lean on so that she could walk to where the Queen was standing rather than being pushed in her wheelchair.
