Trees viewed from Trifels Berg

Viewed from the top of Trifels castle, the great expanse of Palatinate (Pflalz) forest looked wonderful in the sunshine. In simple acreage the forests are a little smaller than the whole of the Black Forest, but I believe they offer the largest single area of unbroken forest in Germany. The colours at this time of year were just beginning to change and show their Goldener Oktober glory. But with summery temperatures and no wind, the air was so clear that we could see for miles in every direction. We were soooo lucky with the weather!
