Bouley Bay

Took a bus to Bonne Nuit on the north coast, and from there we walked along the cliff to Bouley Bay. Passed some of the historic forts, one has been converted for holiday lets. It was an airy walk, with lots of fab views of the sea and cliffs. At Bouley Bay we had lunch and visited Mad Mary's Cafe right on the beach.

Later in the day visited St. Matthews Church at Millbrook, which is known as the Glass Church. The church is embellished by Lalique glass. Panels, pillars, windows, the altar cross and the Art Deco angels are all in opalescent glass, giving a beautiful soft glow to the interior of the church. They also have what is believed to be the only glass christening font in the world.

The glass work was commissioned in the 1930's by Lady Trent, who personally knew the Parisian glass designer, Rene Lalique and asked him to do this as a memorial to her husband, Jessie Boot, the founder of Boots the Chemist.

Another lovely day, we have been very lucky.
