Quail Couples

We have had a pair of quail visiting regularly, but today there were two couples. I think the male is slightly darker grey with a larger head feather plume, while the female is slightly smaller, with a more brown or fawn colouring. The male is often the one to do guard duty as in this photo, though they do take turns.

A few years ago there were several families with young - about 22 or 23 in total.
