The accidental finding

Gloucester Street's newest addition

Some time over the past year or so, the Stroud home brewing shop closed, leaving empty premises. This shop sprung up on the same site after an interval. It describes itself as a haberdashery shop. but to my eye it sells rater more of the vintage knickery-knackery noo noo noo than threads and thimbles. Speaking of which, I recently decided to repair an old rucksack and needed to buy a strap adjuster (25mm) on ebay. When it arrived, I was surprised to see from the label that it had cleared customs, and had been sent from Jamaica, New York!

We've just had a delightful evening with Camilla, Steve's working partner on many projects, and her husband Sridar, and several guests. We started with a lovely veggie curry and accompaniments, then went on to play the Indian board game of Carroms. It's like a sort of draughts game, except that you have to flick the draughts around on a board, trying to get them into the pockets at the sides. Think Snooker-Draughts! Much hilarity was had by all. We have our own Carroms board that was given to us by my sister's former employee, who brought it all the way back from Sri Lanka, but we didn't really know how to play it. Fortunately Sridar and another man, Rama, were able to share their skill and expertise with us.

Now it's half past eleven, and I must go to bed before I fall asleep on the sofa... here comes the weekend!

More Gloucester Street blips can be seen on my biography]: just scroll down to the bottom and you'll find them.

PS the shop is squint because the street is on a steep slope!
