Crossing the Mekong...from Thailand with love

So, we've ticked off Thailand (3 days over our visa & a <relatively> heavy fine later) and we make our way to Laos, over the Mekong river. So, this side Laos, across the water Thailand...get it? good.

We took a bus straight to Luang Nam Tha as this border town was nothing to write home about...arriving at about 9pm in a deserted bus station and after contemplating walking the 10km into town (bad idea) we finally persuaded a sleepy sangthaew driver to take us into town where we settled down and prepared ourselves for our next trekking adventure...
