Birthday walk at Seahouses

My birthday today - should really have incorporated a red balloon into this but we weren't prepared! We had breakfast with Mum and Dad this morning and I opened my cards and presents. Then they headed off and we drove along the coast to Seahouses. We had lunch at the Bamburgh Castle Inn then walked along the seafront and on to the beach. It was forecast to rain today but in the end it was lovely, if a bit windy. We had a great time on the beach.

Orla did not enjoy the walk back to town - "this is not a good time for me", she said. We headed to the Swallow Fish smokehouse & fishmonger's to purchase a seafood feast for my birthday dinner - dressed crab, crab claws, scallops and kipper pâté (plus kippers for breakfast on Saturday!). Definitely one of my favourite places. We had some birthday cake back at the cottage then once Orla and Conor were in bed settled down to our dinner and got the log fire going. Can't get much better than that!
