Isѐre Valley
Today's the day .................... to look at the view
This is the quite magnificent view that we have had every day from where we are staying.
The mountains on the left belong to the Chartreuse range - those of the green liqueur fame - and the highest point that you can see is called La Grande Sȗre which at more than 1,700 m is way higher than Ben Nevis. Those on the right are the start of the Vercors mountains, which played an important part in hiding the French Resistance during the 2nd World War.
The River Isѐre runs in the gap between them and that's where you find the interesting city of Grenoble. There's often a thick fog which collects in the valley bottom, veiling the city and spreading out very dramatically towards Voiron...............
