Corella Fun

Driving into the city today we spotted a large flock of about 200 Corellas on the ground in Rymill Park. A hasty stop and we walked amongst them. I have never been so entertained in all my life. Two were swinging upside down and backwards and forwards from long hanging branches. Many were playing like children with mock wrestling and jumping on each other. Some played by themselves, rolling over and over with sticks or leaves. Others smooched or preened each other. They just seemed so affectionate, yet full of mischief.

The Corella is relatively small member of the white cockatoo family. Some had quite bright red around the faces and others were a paler pink. Most have yellow under their wings, only visible in flight.

Finally we carried on to Hahndorf, a small German settlement in the Adelaide hills - absolutely beautiful with original old houses built around 1839.
