Spring's Gentle Harbinger

I saw my first crocus today, a very small and delicate one on an unkempt lawn.

For a few weeks each spring, there are virtually carpets of crocuses on almost every lawn in my neighbourhood, a sea of yellow, white and lavender. The tender flower I saw today reminded me to say goodbye to winter, and to look forward to the new season.
