Strange Fruit
Yesterday I acquired some quinces or quince apples. They have the most incredible smell. Fruity citrussy custardy vanilla-ish perfumed melony exotic, like all the puddings in the world all rolled into one and then with a dash of emulsion paint thrown in.
They are used to make membrillo, eaten with the Spanish cheese Manchego. So I've made some. It's a sort of solid fruity jelly and cuts into slices. I've a fancy it might go well with a slice of Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire cheese as well.
I'm going to give it a whirl.
