In the Titanic

Long drive to Liverpool this afternoon, for the launch of the new Vauxhall Corsa. It amuses me that every car manufacturer's marketing department seems set on finding three key words to hype their latest model, and for this one they're going big on 'Cute, Aspirational, Sporty'. Yes, well, maybe. We'll find out when we drive it tomorrow.

Interesting choice of hotel, the Titanic. It is located in an old rum warehouse on the waterfront, built in the mid-1800s. Why Titanic? Sitting next to me at dinner was a journo chum from Belfast, who was apoplectic about Liverpool bagging a piece of history that rightfully belongs to 'his' city, where the ship was built.

Also at dinner, after the press briefing I've blipped here, was a GPS artist. A what? Apparently he makes art on a vast scale by joining the dots on a land route mapped by GPS. Vauxhall has commissioned an artwork that he has driven more than 7,000 miles around Britain to create. All will be revealed later this month.
