47 - again!
I spent much of the last year believing - and telling people - that I was 47 only to recently work out that I was only 46. However from 10pm this evening I am definitely 47.
This morning Tom got up early and put up this banner which we've had since he was a little boy, balloons, and wrapped lots of chocolate and bath bombs in a tea towel (really!). He wrote me a lovely note to say how much he loved me. What a sweetie. His older brother, although not living here at the moment, had cycled round town trying to find me a book that apparently is not out until next March (why then review it in this weeks magazine, Sunday Times???). What lovely thoughtful sons I have (well, tea towel gift wrapping aside - although he did point out it was very eco….).
I spent the day interviewing people for our humanitarian responses: Which conflict zones are you prepared to go to? Iraq? Syria? South Sudan? how about countries with ebola?) then took Tom and his friend to Henley College for a Sixth Form open evening where they could do A levels and rowing. They got progressively quieter during the evening as the teachers explained how much work they should be doing to get good GCSEs and how much harder A levels will be… especially balancing that with serious sports training.
Finally I got home 13 hours after I left for work, and now I'm eating chocolate. Yum!
