The Solar, Charney Manor

The Solar is one of the oldest parts of Charney Manor, a Quaker retreat house in Oxfordshire, which dates back to the 13th century. It has beautiful wooden beams and a high ceiling, and holds a great sense of peace and calm. I first visited Charney just over two years ago for a weekend retreat, shortly after I'd been accepted into Quaker membership. That weekend, led by Diana Lampen, was a transformative experience in itself, and so Charney holds lots of special memories for me.

Today I'm here for the start of a course called 'Quakers At The Movies', led by Ben Pink Dandelion and Alex Wildwood. Over the next two days, we will be watching and discussing Angel and the Badman, Friendly Persuasion and High Noon. Should be lots of fun as well as thought-provoking!
