TRAIN KING

The Railway Museum in York contains a huge and classic collection of Railway History. There is so much to see in any one day.
This is a King Class locomotive 4-6-0 Number 6000 - KING GEORGE V - carrying a shed code plate of 82C for Swindon locomotive depot. There were 29 locomotives in this Class.
An ex Great Western Railway express train locomotive, it was built in 1927 and withdrawn from service in 1962.
In August 1927 it was shipped to America to join in Baltimore & Ohio Centenary celebrations. As a result it displays a golden bell and cabside medallions to remember the occasion.

The wheel motion is just my filtering to pretend that I had taken a photo en route !
