Journey forward

Hopefully he will settle in

About a month back, I placed a videocam equipped nesting box in a tree in the garden.
Within hours, the Crested Barbets (Trachyphonus vaillanti) showed an interested, and promptly started opening up the pilot hole to gain access. At times, the activity has been quite frenzied, and on other days relatively quiet. They broke through a couple of weeks ago, and we await keenly for them to take up residence and start breeding.
Earlier today, a pair of Cape Glossy Starlings (Lamprotornis nitens) (also hole nesters) arrived with the intention I am sure of highjacking the residence.
Within minutes, one of the wide awake barbets dived through the entrance hole to protect its investment.
