Pennhurst Asylum
Last Saturday a bunch of my boyfriends family and I decided to take a trip to the Pennhurst State Asylum. On the 2 hour drive I looked up some history on the place, what I found made me more excited and more scared then I was before. In 1908 Pennhurst open as a place for the mentally challenged. At first it was a great place but as time progressed the doctors and nurses started to harm the patience as a form of discipline. this got very bad and one day when a patent was let free she went straight to the cops for Pennhurst to be shut down for good. After it was finally close kids would break in to vandalize the place, little did they know they were walking on haunted grounds. There are tons of documentaries of this place and each describes the haunted location as terrifying. When we were finished going though the 3 attractions where actors jump out at you we traveled to a different part of the asylum. This was a museum, and it haunted me more then anything ever has. i walked though staring at the blank faces of the innocent children in the pictures. There was a piece of art work hat a young boy made, it was of a smiley face. I think this got to me the most, this little boy was probably be hurt and torched each day and yet still would draw a smiley face in his art class. I get goose bump just thinking about what those kids and adults went though.
