Soft Grey Day
Calm today, and surprisingly warm. The promised rain never arrived.
Our two birch trees, which have graced the front of our house since it was built, were chopped up and dragged away to the burn pile this afternoon. Sadly, they had fallen prey to the birch borer beetle. We now have two Japanese tree lilacs in their place. I suppose I'll get used to them but at the moment they just look rather puny.
And we bought a pumpkin from a roadside stand with no human being present and just a box for you to put your money in.
Sound of the day: the honking of Canada geese flying in formation overhead.
