With the rain lashing down outside, it seems sensible to continue with my Airfix model of a BAe Hawk, the basic jet trainer of the Royal Air Force.

It's been four decades since the first flight of the prototype aircraft and when finished, my model will be displayed in the distinctive livery of the world-famous RAF display team, the Red Arrows.
