Serenity - and nostalgia

MonoMonday challenge: emotions. During a family holiday in Venice in 2001 we took a day trip around the islands, and bought two Carnival masks from a shop called L'Estrosa in Burano. It was a very happy holiday, and the day after we arrived home in England I was matron of honour at my sister's wedding.

The serenity of this face contrasts with the emotions it stirs in me: happiness and gratitude for the memories it evokes, love for my family, and regret that other people who were part of our lives back then (and who also loved Venice) are no longer with us.
