The Chattri

A long and very wet walk with the spaniel over the South Downs this morning for our annual visit to the Chattri memorial to all the Indian soldiers who gave their lives in the First World War. The monument was erected on the site where the Hindus and Sikhs who died in hospital at Brighton "passed through the fire". The site was deserted but it was nice to see that someone had recently left some flowers.
