A very 70s wedding.
This is my Auntie Sue and Uncle Wilf on their wedding day in the early 70s.
Sue was my Dad's sister, there was a big age gap and so when I was growing up in the late 60s and early 70s she was young and the absolute embodiment of style to me.
She met Wilf and it was scandalous; he was a divorcee and nearly 30! She dumped her childhood sweetheart and went off in Wilf's sports car.
I remember Sue introducing me to a trendy new food - yoghurt (my Nan did not approve of yoghurt, "foreign muck").
She and Wilf went off on a package holiday to Majorca - unheard of in our family. I remember the postcard from Palma Nova sitting on the mantlepiece for months - probably years. They brought me back some castanets and a postcard of a Spanish lady in national dress - the dress was made of actual material stuck onto the card - wow, how I treasured that little miracle. I could not imagine ever going somewhere so far away and exotic.
They were married for about 35 years until Sue died in her 50s in 2006.
The reason I am Blipping this photo is that I heard from my cousin that Wilf died this week after a long illness, so I went hunting out their wedding photos.
I have posted some back Blips, starting here; I will post for today later on with an explanation!
