What a long day... this trip has been several months in the planning and although I've done surprises before, don't think I've been as stressed as this one. Keys.. wallet.. heid.. didn't really cover everything I needed to check before leaving.
Leaving from Edinburgh it was a nice surprise to fly into Heathrow right over the city when great views up the Thames. A quick refreshment break and was back in the air to NY. It's been some time since we've been on a 747 and the first time Ms H has had this kind of in flight entertainment - 3 films she watched instead of having a SLEEP! I got to see Frank, which i really enjoyed and then Veep - I wish it would come over here, maybe it is already?
We seemed to pick a weekend when both the airtrain to the subway and the subway to our hotel were out of service for maintenance. We decided to just jaunt the 13 blocks down Lexington Avenue, I forgot how short blocks are. Anyway the girls noted lots of nice shops on the way, although I don't think it will be a problem finding more.
So reached the Waldorf Astoria Towers at about 8pm, Mrs C and Ms H had been told they had one more appointment at 9.45pm, hence why they should be sleeping instead of watching movies, but they had 20 mins shuteye before we zipped over to FilmLinc for their closing night showing of Birdman (or the blah blah). When booking this trip, this was the only film on when we were here and felt we could not miss it. I had read great reviews of it, particularly Michael Keaton's performance and it was actually fantastic and really funny. I have not seen him act like this before, his character is based on a parody of his own career which I don't has really impressed me (batman :-( birdman :-), but this was something else. It's filmed to look almost look like one continuous shot which was also quite amazing.
Anyway, a late night at 00:30, or should I say 5.30... could only sleep until 7.30... a few more surprises to go (clue in yesterday's blip) but I think I can take it easy now...
