Kate In The Kettle
Went to a most extraordinary gig in the Botanical gardens.
First we went to the main hall, wrong do. We weren't looking for a wedding, although we could so easily have taken a glass of champers from the tray to toast the bride.
No-one seemed to know about 'Katie in the kettle' but we hung around. A little later others who didn't quite look the part of wedding guests started to turn up and eventually the curator of Inverleith house turned up to guide us like, the pied piper, through the gardens to the House and we sat on the Autumn leaf strewn floor, well I didn't, I had grabbed myself the only chair around and sat in better style. In this ground floor room we were entranced by the first class performance of 3 musicians (I think known as 'Sink') and after 3 tunes they led us up the stairs to hear a fiddle piece played by Morag (don't know her other name). Again, excellent. We were then further led to the next room where Kate played through her new album 'Swimmings of the head'. Her personality and voice are amazingly 'Present' is how I think I'd put it. An astonishing girl who sings and plays fiddle with easy access to every note and sound available. A great evening.
