Ornate headstone
On the way back from an art class I stopped in Sutton Montis and looked at the church and churchyard. The church is listed and ancient with a later classical porch but what caught my eye were a few ornate headstones in the churchyard. This one is Victorian and I often wonder whether the mason had drawings of different ornamentation to show his customers or whether the customers more often described what they wanted on the headstone. Today they are mostly plain. Sutton Montis lies below Cadbury Castle otherwise known as Camelot Fort in the realm of King Arthur.
