Howden Dam

We had a walk in the Upper Derwent Valley this afternoon from Derwent Dam.

The intention was to drive up to the end of the valley as we had not done this for so long but the road was closed for bridge repairs.

This is the view over a very low level Derwent Reservoir to Howden Dam and Howden Moors beyond. Apparently the Howden Reservoir is at an even lower level. Ladybower Reservoir is about 2/3rds full so doesn't look as low as this.

The weather was kind and the bird watching highlight was the smallest UK bird the Goldcrest - a good test for the new binoculars mentioned yesterday.
