Serenity
I'm so happy to be here. A little more sleep would have been in order, but it's worth getting up early to hear and watch the birds. Besides, Kayla's always so happy to see us. She has started finding avocados again, but they aren't fully ripe yet, so the lawn grass and weeds are littered with half-eaten fruit.
Not quite so cold today, so I eventually moved the laptop out onto the porch, but wearing my hoodie against the cold, sharp wind. When I took Kayla for a walk, a local man gave me another possible explanation for our beloved mongrel Pepsi's disappearance. I had already heard that she might have fallen foul of a trap (and would happily kill people who set them). Now this man told me that coatis (raccoon family) had killed two of his neighbour's dogs. When a band passed through the property he works at, he had lost count after the twentieth. Pepsi was a fierce huntress, so if she had to go, I would prefer think that she had been caught by other animals than by some b-----d of a human.
