Fitting tribute

A pub lunch today with M at the Start Bay Inn , wonderful fish and chips! Across the road from the pub is this US Sherman tank which was recovered from the bay in 1984 where it had lain since April 1944. In an exercise for US troops preparing for the Normandy landings nearly 1000 were killed when their landing craft were attacked when German e-boats discovered the badly protected convoy. Recent research has indicated that the final death toll could have been as high as 1700+
