Almost a 24 hour day - no sleep for the wicked

The Airbus landed at Malta International Airport at 02:40 am local time. The baggage and car hire went pretty smoothly - arrived at the apartment just after 4:00 am.

I knew the lock to the apartment was fiddly from last time in 2009 - I knew there was a knack to it.

Maybe I had lost the knack or was too knackered tired, but there was no way I could get the door to open this time. There are three other apartments in the block but you can hardly buzz the neighbours in the middle of the night at stupid o'clock.

So a couple of hours sleep in the car and try again at a more respectable hour. So this is dawn over Valletta.

Would you guess it? I tried the same key at 7:00 am and got straight in.

Three hours sleep a spot of lunch and a bit of sightseeing followed by a bit more coffee and cake.

It's very hot and sunny. There's a lot going on here and a lot of super yachts in the harbour. It's the Birgufest this weekend and all the lights go out and the city is totally illuminated by candlelight.

No sleep for the wicked.
