Herring dish

The painting was done by my grandmother many years ago. I brought it back from Denmark last January. I brought back the dish as well.

The dish was used during lunch to hold the herring for the fish course. When I was young, I NEVER ate the herring. I would eat the tuna or the mackerel. But now that I am older, I like the herring. Unfortunately we do not lunch here in Virginia the same way.
