Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red ...
is the poppy installation at the Tower of London, which marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
A very early start (for me) - up at 06:00 to meet friends/fellow blippers:
Matthew Lynes
Trevor Keville
Gill Keville
and Cat Chapman
at the Tower of London for a photography day out. The weather was on our side - after all the rain yesterday, today was sunny and warm.
Started off at the Tower of London; very quiet first thing but the sun was right overhead and blinkies were a major problem, so we moved on to St Katharine Docks. The water was perfect for some great reflections shots. We had a table booked for lunch at 12:00 at The Butler's Wharf Chop House restaurant overlooking the Thames, to celebrate Gill and Trevor's 29th wedding anniversary. After lunch we wandered round Butler's Wharf for a bit of street photography and then it was back to the Tower of London for those all important poppy shots! This shot has been photographed by many and I just wish I had a wider angle lens to get the whole of both sides in! (Another lens to add to my wish list!).
Further images of the day can be seen here.
A fabulous day of photography and great company :)
