Descent

A terrible accident closed the M56 motorway.

As a result 3 hours after the crash, when my meeting in Chester finished, I joined all the traffic that was having to go through the mersey tunnels. Which they knew was going to happen as it was the official diversion. Yet they had just 2 staff manning the dozen or more barriers with queues tailing back miles. They must have made a fortune today, I like to think I would have suggested just opening the barriers if I had been in charge.
It took 40 minutes to get through the tunnel, which was a small part of the almost four hour journey to do 37 miles.

It's nothing in light of what happened but mildly tedious all the same.
