Dunbeacon National School
Now in the final throws of dereliction - the roof has nearly fallen in.
Shafts of light were streaming down from the open hole in the roof and through the doors just enough to illuminate the fading colours on the fireplace, rotting wood panelling and mould-encrusted stonework. This room - the smaller of the two classrooms, seems to have had a tiered gallery and the teacher's desk would have been cosily close to the fireplace.
This is a single image (no HDR here!) with some careful processing to balance the tonal range - worth looking in large to see that the old plaster has taken on the appearance of an ancient fresco.
Entry for this weeks Derelict Thursday challenge
Edit Herself has blipped the other room
