Emotion

On a Thursday Morning I go watercolour painting. I'd always loved drawing when I was young so jumped at the chance when U3A started a new group a couple of years ago.

The teacher had only taught beginners so after our first year said that she couldn't teach us any more techniques so since then we've just been a group to meet and paint without instruction.

We often take it in turns to choose a subject and today's was "Emotion". I've been trying to think what to do for a few days but couldn't think of anything that inspired me. Last night I found a photo of WW1 soldiers returning to the front, being seen off by families. That was ideal for me so I did this pencil sketch from some of the people in the photo. I'm going to leave it in pencil although I had originally planned to give it a sepia wash.

The lady that chose such a tricky subject didn't turn up to do hers!!
