Cheeky Kea
We've farewelled the West Coast and driven to Lake Tekapo on the east side of Mount Cook. The journey through Arthur's Pass is very dramatic, partly hidden for us today by low cloud, but that in a way added to the drama . We stopped briefly in the Otiri Gorge to admire the engineering feat that is the Otiri Gorge Bridge. I say briefly ,because the Kea (NZ mountain parrot) immediately descended on our truck and set about trying to remove the wiper blades and the rubber around the windows! So, today's blip is of the prime culprit! By the way, they do have the most extraordinary burnt orange colour on the underside of their wing, not that that would make you feel any better when you discover they've dismantled your car!
