Balancing
These two stone towers were defiantly standing against the incoming tide. Well balanced and with stones of various types of coloured rocks the towers remained upright until with the onslaught of a huge wave, one collapsed. The other remained standing for a few more minutes then finally the sea won and the head started to wobble and sway before collapsing to be engulfed by the encroaching waves.
The stone balancing sculptures were the work of Ken Shapsley who showed me some of his phone images of other stone sculptures and designs that he had made on the local beach. He really has an eye for seeing the marvel and beauty in the environment and nature and he pointed out ‘faces’ in rocks on the nearby small cliffs. His photography is inspirational as can be seen in The Half Seen World,
According to the Edinburgh Evening News His work reveals a whole new word hidden right in front of us. It is as if there is a whole archetypal world of elemental beings supporting our own world. His sublime images capture the hidden world of nature.
