Honey, I'm home!

Husband came home today from his short trip to the Netherlands. And he brought a suitcase full of good stuff. Of course I was very happy with my bottle of Coubergh (cherry liquor). I haven't had that stuff in ages and it's just something that reminds me of my teenage years when I was allowed to drink one glass of Coubergh (first with orange juice, later pure on the rocks) at my parents birthday parties or other special occasions. Yes, I was raised to drink responsible and part of this is that you are allowed to drink at an early age, at home with your parents.
At least I never felt the urge to go out and binge drink when I turned 16 (the legal drinking age in the Netherlands before 2014, now it's 18 years).

He also brought some typical Dutch holiday candy like pepernoten (tastes like cinnamon spice cookies) and schuimpjes (no English equivalent I think). And of course dropjes (licorice), Dutch cheese, and chocolate sprinkles (to put on a slice of bread).

I'm happy!

PS: the American Fritessaus is not American AT ALL ;-). The Dutch eat their french fries with mayonaise, so when Mc Donalds came to the Netherlands nobody wanted to eat their fries with ketchup. They "invented" their own mayonaise and now the Dutch are happy and think it's real American (but it's not).
