Weir on North Esk at Ironmills Park

Although the rain had stopped the North Esk was surging over the weir in Ironmills Park this evening - but I have seen it much higher (like during the wet summer floods of 2013 when it threatened to come over the wall at the pool at the top of the weir - which is really a small dam, but I have no idea what its purpose was)
