Cart before horse
I was given the horse cart by a kindly neighbour in France, who had no expectations of renovating it. I had planned to restore it to working order, fancifully thinking that, perhaps, it might be pulled by my llamas. In reality it would take a large horse to do the job.
Nevertheless, circumstances dictated otherwise, and I entrusted the cart to my brother, Phill, when I sold up in Limousin and went to Hungary. I'd hoped Phill would restore the cart, but at the end of the day, he moved to the south of France and couldn't transport the cart there. By then, I'd moved back to the UK and the cart was sadly part exchanged for removal services to take my other possessions to my own new property in the south.
I wish I'd been able to restore the cart to working order, but all I have left of it is this little drawing, with which I illustrated my book that catalogued on my first years in France, Bon Courage!
