creeping vines
blood crimson leaves
fallen,crumpled
green gold grassy fingers
softly cradle her tipped
toppled marker,
mary still as stone

Mary C. Josselyn was the wife of Oren Josselyn, who was my Great Great Grandfather's brother. Oren had an $8.00 pension due at death, most probably he was a veteran of the War of 1812. He was too young for the Revolutionary War and too old for the Civil War, and was 19 when the War of 1812 broke out. This info is from Rootsweb


I took some early morning photographs in the Hanover Center Cemetery. The light was lovely. Lots of classic New England views.. I was glad for my thin gloves but wished for a scarf, it was the coldest morning so far. I hope the sunny glow stays with me this afternoon...

I'm going, with a very close friend, to visit our mutual friend J this afternoon. She's in a geriatric psych unit and not doing very well. There is a possibility that she has quickly spiraled downward due to dementia. We are heartsick. It's the first time we have seen her since the spring. Unfortunately, she has not really improved with medications and specialized care since then. That lack of improvement necessitated this hospitalization. She's 69, her 70th birthday is in a month.
